Throughout the year the AWSC offers or sponsors events around the country. These events include the club's National Specialty, supported conformation events, AWSC hunt tests, AWS Retrieving Certification Tests, and much more. The National Specialty is a licensed AKC conformation dog show held specifically for the American Water Spaniel. It is a part of four consecutive days of events held during the month of August for the benefit of AWS owners and members of the AWSC. Events during these four days include the National Specialty, an Obedience Trial, Roustabout, AWSC Hunt Tests, AWS RCT, the club's annual meeting, an awards banquet, and much more.

SUPPORTED ENTRIES (dog shows)

The AWSC encourages members to hold supported entries in different locations throughout the country. This helps to showcase the breed, increases the attendance at AKC shows, and often increases the number of points available to the winning dog(s).

July 30, July 31 (supported entry) and August 1, 2010.
Extra prizes will be given for Best of Breed, Best of Opposite and Best of Winners.
Highest scoring American Water Spaniel in Obedience and Rally given all 3 days.
Saturday, again the top 3 in conformation and 1-4 in each class.

AWSC HUNT TESTS

The AWSC offers a hunt test program designed to thoroughly test American Water Spaniels as all-around field dogs. There are four test levels offered in the program that correspond to the following available titles: Started Dog (SD), Working Dog (WD), Working Dog Excellent (WDX), and Working Dog Superior (WDS).

AWS RETRIEVING CERTIFICATION TESTS (RCT)

Before an American Water Spaniel can be awarded an AKC hunt test title it must complete not only the AKC's requirements but two passes of the AWS Retrieving Certification Test for the specific title level sought. These tests may be sponsored by the AWSC, AWSC members, AWS owners, and AKC spaniel and retriever clubs.
